Arrive in Edinburgh: Scottish Welcome Weekend
(July 16-17)
In the Footsteps of Mendelssohn, Travel Option I starts with a Scottish Welcome Weekend of friendship, sightseeing, high tea and pre-Institute lecture-discussions on Mendelssohn in Scotland. The Scottish Welcome Weekend is a 2-day Institute option to be booked and paid for by the individual participant and their friends and families. The location and times for the informal lecture-discussions will be sent to registered participants.
On Location with Doreen Rao: Study and Perform in Stirling
(July 18-22)
Choristers and conductors meet for a 5-day choral festival and CME professional development course in singing, conducting and choral pedagogy at Stirling University. The festival and conducting course will highlight the music of Mendelssohn, Handel and the Celtic Traditions for treble and mixed voice choirs. Rehearsals and Master Classes with Doreen Rao. Post Institute Retreat
(July 23-26)
In the Footsteps of Mendelssohn Travel Option II offers an informal retreat of island hopping through the Scottish Hebrides to the Isle of Skye. The CME Travel Retreat to the Scottish Hebrides is planned as a three-day course option available only as an all-inclusive package through the Institute's official agency. Noncourse participants, friends and family members are invited to take advantage of this music and travel option.
